Baseball Game Preview: Lordsburg Mavericks vs. Duncan Wildkats

The Lordsburg Mavericks will head out on the road to face off against the Duncan Wildkats at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lordsburg has given up an average of 9.5 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Lordsburg lost 13-3 to Magdalena on Saturday. The Mavericks have struggled against the Steers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Lordsburg saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Daniel Scott, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple and one run.

Meanwhile, Duncan suffered their biggest defeat since March 9, 2024 on Monday. They wound up with the same score they had in their last game (10-2), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time. Their loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Lordsburg's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Duncan, their loss dropped their record down to 6-3.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Lordsburg has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Duncan struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Lordsburg took their victory against Duncan in their previous meeting back in March of 2018 by a conclusive 11-5 score. Do the Mavericks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wildkats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
