Volleyball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Anna Carlson and Anna France Lead Newman to Victory

While Newman's victory against Wausau West wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Fighting Cardinals won by a set and slipped past the Warriors 3-2. The win continues a trend for the Fighting Cardinals in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won five in a row.

Newman wouldn't go down easily and took Wausau West into a fifth set where they got it done with a eight-point win. The final score came out to 25-18, 25-21, 24-26, 18-25, 15-7.

Newman was led to victory by Anna France and Anna Carlson. France had 12 digs, while Carlson had four aces. Those four aces gave Carlson a new career-high.

They weren't the only good server: Newman was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 15 aces. That's the most aces they've managed all season.

The victory got Newman back to even at 6-6. As for Wausau West, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-6.

Looking ahead, Newman will face off against Tomahawk at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Wausau West, they are taking a road trip to challenge Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. This will be the Warriors' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
