Volleyball Recap: Newnan Gets the Win

The Newnan Cougars earned a 2-0 victory over the Heard County Braves on Thursday.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Newnan took both sets by at least 14 points. The match finished with set scores of 25-11, 25-6.

Newnan found their leader in freshman Mia West, who had ten assists and five aces. Another player making a difference was Kaycie Brown, who had five digs.

The win got Newnan back to even at 1-1. As for Heard County, their loss was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-1.

Coincidentally, Newnan and Heard County will both be playing Oak Mountain Academy the next time they take the court. The Cougars will head out to face the Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Braves will play them later in the day, at 7:00 p.m.
