Volleyball Game Preview: Skyridge Falcons vs. Lone Peak Knights

Skyridge hasn't had much luck against Lone Peak recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Falcons will face off against the Knights at 6:30 p.m. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.

Skyridge is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Utah's top teams: Green Canyon, who was ranked 16th at the time (Skyridge was ranked first). The Falcons put the hurt on the Wolves with a sharp 3-0 victory on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Lone Peak got the win against Corner Canyon on Tuesday by a conclusive 3-0.

The match was exciting from start to finish, as two sets needed extra rallies to gain a two-point lead. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 27-25, 26-24.

Skyridge better focus on containing Luhanna Panta and Ava Burgess as the pair were huge in Lone Peak's win. Panta had 12 digs and four assists, while Burgess had 15 kills, five digs, and one block. Burgess is crushing it when it comes to kills: she's had at least six every time she's taken the court this season.

Lone Peak's win bumped their record up to 17-9. As for Skyridge, their victory bumped their record up to 21-2.

Skyridge was able to grind out a solid win over Lone Peak in their previous meeting two weeks ago, winning 3-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Falcons since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
