Basketball Recap: Brantley County Takes a Loss

Brantley County has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell 56-48 to the Jeff Davis Yellowjackets on Tuesday. The Herons were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Yellowjackets earlier this season, when they won 61-44.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Jeff Davis to victory, but perhaps none more so than Latrell Sellers, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 15 rebounds. Sellers is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down 11 or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Malachi Smith, who posted 15 points along with six rebounds and four steals.

Brantley County's loss dropped their record down to 13-6. As for Jeff Davis, they pushed their record up to 10-7 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Brantley County will host Berrien at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Brantley County is facing Berrien at the right time seeing as Berrien is stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Jeff Davis, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Thomasville at 7:30 p.m. Jeff Davis is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.1 points per game this season.
