Basketball Recap: Pine Extends Winning Streak to Six

Pine hadn't done well against Springfield recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Pine Raiders came out on top against the Springfield Bulldogs by a score of 55-48. Winning may never get old, but the Raiders sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row.

Despite the defeat, Springfield saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Chase Burches went 7-for-10 en route to 14 points along with eight boards and three steals. Burches is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 53% in the last six games he's played. Rowen Harris was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Pine's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-6. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.0 points over those games. As for Springfield, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-10.

Looking ahead, Pine will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Mandeville at 6:00 p.m. As for Springfield, they will head out to face off against Albany at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
