Baseball Game Preview: Chippewa Chipps vs. Northwestern Huskies

For the second straight game, Chippewa will face off against Northwestern. The Chipps will be playing at home against the Huskies at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Chippewa's pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so Northwestern's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

On Tuesday, Chippewa didn't have quite enough to beat Northwestern and fell 2-1. The Chipps have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

For Northwestern's part, David Mcie was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Mcie has become a key player for Northwestern: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 3-12 otherwise. Mcie was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Grady Ellerbrock was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and one double.

The victory made it two in a row for Northwestern and bumps their season record up to 5-13. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of one runs across that stretch. As for Chippewa, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-9.
