Softball Game Preview: Morton Potters vs. Washington Panthers

Morton hasn't had much luck against Washington recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Potters will head out on the road to face off against the Panthers at 4:30 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

While Morton's win against Richwoods wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Potters narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Knights 3-2. The Potters haven't had any issues with the Knights recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Washington never got on the board in their matchup on Monday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Lincoln on Monday. They put the hurt on the Railsplitters with a sharp 10-3 victory. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won eight contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Washington has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.1 runs over those games. As for Morton, their victory bumped their record up to 3-13.

Morton suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to Washington in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Potters avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
