Baseball Recap: Lake Forest Academy's Losing Streak Snapped at Five Games

There's no place like home for Lake Forest Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Schaumburg Christian Conquerors on Saturday as they made off with a 13-3 win. The victory was some much needed relief for the Caxys as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

Parker Pollak and Landon Fraser were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, Pollak didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Fraser struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Lake Forest Academy is 2-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 0-4 otherwise. At the plate, Pollak got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Fraser went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. The dominant performance also gave Pollak a new career-high in hits (two).

In other batting news, Christian Martinez was a standout: he got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. He is becoming a predictor of Lake Forest Academy's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 0-4 when he doesn't). Santi Delgado also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Lake Forest Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Schaumburg Christian only posted an OBP of .250.

Lake Forest Academy's record is now 2-5. As for Schaumburg Christian, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.
