Volleyball Recap: Fruita Monument Takes a Loss

Fruita Monument lost against Ponderosa back in October of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Fruita Monument Wildcats fell just short of the Ponderosa Mustangs by a score of 3-2. While the Wildcats didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Mustangs 28-26 in the first set.

Fruita Monument took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. The final score came out to 26-28, 25-19, 18-25, 25-22, 17-15.

Cambelle Brammer paced Fruita Monument's offense, picking up 20 kills. Brammer got some help from Parker Clarke and her 33 assists. Finally, Sophie Emerson kept Fruita Monument's defense grounded, leading the team with two blocks.

Fruita Monument's loss dropped their record down to 13-8. As for Ponderosa, their victory ended a 12-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 7-13.

Fruita Monument wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 3-0 defeat against Pine Creek on the 26th. Ponderosa has also already played their next match, a 3-1 win against Chatfield on the 26th.
