Ponce De Leon won the last time they faced Vernon and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Pirates blew past the Yellowjackets 11-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Pirates.

Kiyann Alford made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI.

Alford wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Payton Joyner, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. Clara Martin was another, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

Ponce De Leon's record is now 7-10. As for Vernon, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-13.

Looking ahead, Ponce De Leon will challenge Kinston at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Pirates will need to watch out since the Bulldogs have now posted at least ten runs in their last five matchups. As for Vernon, they will host Wewahitchka at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The last four games the Gators have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
