Basketball Recap: Karyme Chavez and Emiliana Valdez Secure Win for Center

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Sanford, Center was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They came out on top against the Sierra Grande Panthers by a score of 37-29. That's more bragging rights for the Vikings, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Center was led to victory by Emiliana Valdez and Karyme Chavez. Valdez almost dropped a double-double with 13 points and nine rebounds, while Chavez posted six points. The dominant performance also gave Valdez a new career-high in steals (three).

When it comes to explaining why Sierra Grande lost, don't look at Jaylyn Quezada. Despite the final result, she had 13 points and six steals. Sierra Grande is 9-1 when Quezada posts five or more steals, but 2-7 otherwise.

Center's record now sits at 14-6. As for Sierra Grande, their loss dropped their record down to 11-8.
