Softball Recap: Orting Cardinals vs. Olympic Trojans
Orting had lost four straight on the road, but on Saturday they dropped down to 9-12 to make it five. They lost 14-8 to the Olympic Trojans. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cardinals of the 5-4 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2025.
Norah Fenton made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Macy Sullenger, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
As for Olympic, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season. Considering they have won six games by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
On Olympic's side, Sophia Brown made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up six earned (and two unearned) runs off 11 hits (and only one walk). Brown has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with three RBI and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Paige Gordon, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. Kennedy Haas was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
As of now, neither Orting nor Olympic have any future games scheduled.
