Softball Recap: Cardington-Lincoln Snaps Eight-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Cardington-Lincoln can now relate to. They fell just short of the West Jefferson Roughriders by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. The Pirates were red-hot at the plate heading into the match (they scored no less than ten runs in the four contests prior), but the Roughriders' pitchers proved too tough.

Cardington-Lincoln's defeat ended an eight-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-5. As for West Jefferson, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 19-2-1.

Cardington-Lincoln does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for West Jefferson, they will square off against Danville at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Blue Devils' pitching crew has only allowed 1.7 runs per game this season, so the Roughriders' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
