Basketball Game Preview: Saugus Centurions vs. Valencia Vikings

The Saugus Centurions will head out on the road to challenge the Valencia Vikings at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

On Saturday, Saugus was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 67-63 to Rancho Cucamonga. While losing is never fun, the Centurions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 165th, while the Cougars are ranked 38th).

Meanwhile, Valencia ended up a good deal behind La Canada on Saturday and lost 75-57.

Saugus' defeat dropped their record down to 14-8. As for Valencia, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-15 record this season.

Saugus couldn't quite finish off Valencia when the teams last played back in December of 2024 and fell 58-55. Can Saugus avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
