Softball Recap: Northwest Christian's Winning Streak Snapped at Four Games

Northwest Christian dropped down to 15-9 on Saturday, ending the team's four-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Show Low Cougars, falling 12-1. The Crusaders were red-hot at the plate heading into the matchup (they scored no less than ten runs in the ten games prior), but the Cougars' pitchers proved too tough.

Kinsey Unger was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run.

As for Show Low, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 28-4. Considering they have won 24 contests by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

On Show Low's side, Aspyn Clark made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). Those ten strikeouts gave Clark a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Show Low got a massive performance out of Rylee Wyatt, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Ari Rivera was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Northwest Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Show Low, they will face off against Tanque Verde at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Cougars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Hawks have averaged an impressive 12.2 runs per game this season.
