Volleyball Recap: Cornell Starts Season with Victory Against Birchwood

Cornell had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They came out on top against the Birchwood Bobcats by a score of 3-1 on Tuesday. The Chiefs haven't had any issues with the Bobcats recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Cornell had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 18-25, 25-15, 26-24, 25-17.

Cornell's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Willow Kobliska, who had seven aces and five digs. Kyleigh Mercer was another key player, getting seven digs and three aces.

Coincidentally, Cornell and Birchwood will both be playing Flambeau the next time they take the court. The Bobcats will head out to face the Falcons at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday, while the Chiefs will host them at 7:15 p.m. on the 11th.
