Meanwhile, Haverling hadn't done well against Wellsville recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Rams had just enough and edged out the Lions 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Rams have posted against the Lions since May 26, 2015.

Kaili Witherell made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. Witherell was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBI.

Witherell wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kasandra Plewa, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Fredonia's victory was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-2. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.6 runs on average over those games. As for Haverling, their record now sits at 18-3.
