Baseball Recap: Thursday's Victory Is Summers County's Fifth in Last Six Outings

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Princeton, Summers County was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They never let the Bluefield Beavers get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. The high-scoring effort was just what the Bobcats needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.

Robey Brown was a standout: he went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Summers County's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 5-15-1 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Colten Jones, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Summers County is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-16-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Bluefield, they dropped their record down to 0-16 with the defeat, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season.
