A Season-Best  Performance from  Nelsyn Wheeler Leads Grand Island over Bellevue East
 On Friday, Grand Island got the W thanks in part to  Nelsyn Wheeler playing the best football he has all season. Wheeler rushed for 197 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries, good enough to  set a new career-high in  rushing yards in the process. That high mark didn't come from nowhere:  he has now  rushed for 128 or more in the last three games he's  played.
 Grand Island moved to 1-7 with that  victory, which also ended their eight-game losing streak. Wheeler and Grand Island will be playing in front of their home fans against Omaha Northwest  at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday.

Blake Smith Turns in Another Game with at Least 150  Rushing Yards
  Blake Smith produced his most outstanding game to date while leading Westview to the win  on Friday. Smith's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 150  rushing yards dating back to last season.
 The  victory was  the third in a row for Westview, bringing their record for this year to 6-2. Smith and Westview will look to defend their home field  on Friday against Millard West.

Grand Island's Losing Streak Is No More Thanks to  Brady Douglass
 Thanks in part to  Brady Douglass, Grand Island said goodbye to their eight-game losing streak  dating back to last season. On Friday  Douglass picked up  a  sack and made ten total tackles. The  performance  also marked the most  rushing yards (20)  he has had since back in October of 2023.
 For the year,  Douglass  has averaged 6 total tackles per game  and for the season has  those 1 sack.
