Softball Game Preview: Nicolet Knights vs. West Bend East Suns

Nicolet is 2-8 against West Bend East since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Knights will venture away from home to face off against the Suns at 4:30 p.m. Nicolet has given up an average of 16.4 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Nicolet is headed into Tuesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 35th straight game dating back to last season on Monday. They came up short against Cedarburg, falling 19-3. On the bright side, the three- run performance marked the Knights' highest-scoring contest to date.

Maria Kelly made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That double marked the first that she has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Morgan Einsiedel, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one run.

Meanwhile, West Bend East had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. Everything went their way against the Blue Dukes as they made off with an 18-4 win.

Nicolet's defeat dropped their record down to 0-14. As for West Bend East, their victory bumped their record up to 10-11.

Nicolet suffered a grim 13-1 defeat to West Bend East in their previous matchup back in April. Can the Knights avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
