Soccer Game Preview: Wharton vs. Bay City

The Wharton Tigers will venture away from home to face off against the Bay City Blackcats at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Wharton has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the game with three straight defeats, while Bay City will come in with three straight wins.

Wharton fell victim to Rice Consolidated and their airtight defense on Tuesday. They lost 4-0 to the Raiders. That's two games in a row now that the Tigers have lost by exactly four goals.

Meanwhile, Bay City's game on Monday was all tied up 1-1 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They were the clear victor by a 6-1 margin over Columbus. The result was nothing new for the Blackcats, who have now won nine contests by three goals or more so far this season.

They hit Columbus with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Evaristo Feilberg (2), Christopher Martinez (2), Santiago Garcia, and Pedro Montes.

Bay City's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-0-5. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 18 goals over those three matchups. As for Wharton, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.

Wharton suffered a grim 8-1 defeat to Bay City when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can Wharton avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
