Basketball Game Preview: Cedartown Bulldogs vs. Cartersville Hurricanes

Cedartown hasn't had much luck against Cartersville recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Cedartown Bulldogs will take on the Cartersville Hurricanes at 7:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Friday, Cedartown was fully in charge, breezing past Southeast Whitfield County 63-34.

Meanwhile, Cartersville entered their tilt with Woodland on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 76-69 win over the Wildcats.

Cartersville's win came from a few key players Cedartown will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Nas Bennett, who went 10 of 20 on his way to 30 points and six rebounds. That's the most points he has posted since back in January of 2024. Wyatt Thomason was another key player, dropping a double-double on 22 points and ten boards.

Cartersville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in seven consecutive games.

Cartersville has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a massive bump to their 13-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.0 points per game. As for Cedartown, their victory bumped their record up to 13-11.

Cedartown was able to grind out a solid win over Cartersville in their previous matchup back in January, winning 85-74. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cedartown since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
