Dakota Ridge strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They strolled past the Cherokee Trail Cougars with points to spare, taking the game 38-21. The Eagles have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Cougars, too.

One reason for the win was Dakota Ridge's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess: Dominick Webb and Brady Palladino, who each picked up 1.5 sacks apiece.

When it comes to explaining why Cherokee Trail lost, don't look at Logan Posey. Despite the final result, he rushed for 120 yards and one touchdown, and also picked up 36 receiving yards.

Dakota Ridge's victory bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Cherokee Trail, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Dakota Ridge and Cherokee Trail will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Eagles will face off against rival Ponderosa at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Cherokee Trail is set to challenge their familiar foe Cherry Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
