Basketball Recap: Caprock Academy Takes a Loss

Caprock Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against the Grand Junction Central Warriors, falling 52-29. The Eagles were down 42-19 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

When it comes to explaining why Caprock Academy lost, don't look at Taylor Phillips. Despite the final result, she posted six points in addition to nine boards and eight steals. Phillips is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last 13 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Ashley Wilke, who earned five points and four steals.

Caprock Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 5-15. As for Grand Junction Central, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-15.

Coming up, Caprock Academy will take on Hayden at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Grand Junction Central, they will challenge Palisade at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
