Basketball Recap: Carroll Cougars vs. Lafayette Jefferson Bronchos

The Carroll Cougars stacked a 14th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Thursday. They breezed by Lafayette Jefferson at home to the tune of 64-21. The victory was nothing new for Carroll as they're now sitting on five straight.

Alli Harness was her usual excellent self, scoring 25 points along with seven steals and six rebounds. She has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last 13 times she's played. Madison Wagner was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with eight assists and six rebounds.

Despite the loss, Lafayette Jefferson saw an underclassman step up: Janeal Capers scored four points.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Lafayette Jefferson struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Carroll racked up 16 assists.

Carroll pushed their record up to 20-3 with that win, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.5 points per game. As for Lafayette Jefferson, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-19.

Carroll will take on the Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Lafayette Central Catholic has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Lafayette Jefferson, they will face off against the Raiders at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Harrison presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Bronchos in Indiana (the Raiders are ranked 140th, while the Bronchos are ranked 301st).
