Recap: Scott Skyhawks vs. Winfield Generals
The Scott Skyhawks put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. Everything went their way against Winfield as Scott made off with a 48-27 win. The result was nothing new for Scott, who have now won eight matches by 21 points or more so far this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Scott to victory, but perhaps none more so than Carson Brinegar, who picked up 244 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Brinegar's longest reception was for an incredible 80 yards. Matt Frye was another key contributor, throwing for 395 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 13.2 yards per attempt.
Scott's victory was their fourth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 9-0. It's not like the team was facing easy opposition over that stretch either, as it included 6-3 Hoover and 5-4 Point Pleasant (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 63.9% over those games). As for Winfield, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Scott will take on Nitro at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Nitro will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps West Virginia Rankings (they are ranked 47th, while Scott is ranked eighth). As for Winfield, they will head out on the road to face off against Point Pleasant at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Point Pleasant will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
