Baseball Recap: Hawthorne Extends Winning Streak to Four

Hawthorne waltzed into their game on Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. Everything went their way against the Centennial Apaches as they made off with an 11-1 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 15-4 on Tuesday.

The team relied heavily on Joaquin Arana, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jose Ruelas, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles.

Hawthorne was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Hawthorne's win bumped their record up to 6-10. As for Centennial, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-15.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hawthorne will take on Lennox Academy at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Centennial, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Beverly Hills at 3:15 p.m. on the 29th.
