Volleyball Recap: Batavia Takes a Loss

Batavia saw some tournament action on Friday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lyons Lions. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The loss didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Lyons scored at least 17 points in every set. The final score came out to 25-17, 25-18.

Olivia Dibiase paced Batavia's offense, picking up five kills. Dibiase got some help from Caroline Prodoehl and her seven assists. Mckenna Bremner controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Lyons found their leader in sophomore Julia Ahrens, who had nine digs and two aces.

Batavia's defeat dropped their record down to 12-17. As for Lyons, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-11 record this season.

Batavia wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 2-1 win against Maine West on the 18th. Lyons has also already played their next match, a 2-1 loss against Palatine on the 18th.
