Baseball Game Preview: Fairview Eagles vs. St. Joseph Central Irish

The Fairview Eagles will face off against the St. Joseph Central Irish at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

The home team had won the previous five meetings between Fairview and Boyd County, and Boyd County kept the tradition alive. The Eagles lost 12-1 to the Lions on Thursday.

Meanwhile, St. Joseph Central unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of East Carter by a score of 8-7.

Hudson Moosavi made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Courts, who got three hits from his three at bats.

Fairview's defeat dropped their record down to 11-10. As for St. Joseph Central, their loss dropped their record down to 26-3.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Fairview has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like St. Joseph Central struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Fairview got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 against St. Joseph Central by a conclusive 10-0 score. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Irish turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
