Recap: Union Academy Cardinals vs. Parkwood Wolf Pack
The Union Academy Cardinals have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matches by 41 points or more this season. They took their matchup on the road on Friday with ease, bagging a 69-21 win over Parkwood. The victory was nothing new for Union Academy as they're now sitting on five straight.
It was another big night for Ranon Suttle, who scored 31 points. The contest was her fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jaiden Thompson, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds.
Katrina Meyre and Peyton Collins certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Meyre scored nine points, while Collins scored nine points. Collins scored a full 42.9% of Parkwood's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Parkwood struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Union Academy's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.0 points per game. As for Parkwood, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-5.
Union Academy will head out on the road to face off against Covenant Day at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Covenant Day will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 547th, while Union Academy is ranked 125th). Parkwood will be home for the holidays to greet Buford at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
