Two dominant signal callers in Parker Zikmund and Wyatt Pollet are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Central City Bison will take on the Aurora Huskies at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Central City knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 points or more in their past eight matchups -- so hopefully Aurora likes a good challenge.
On Friday, Central City strolled past Broken Bow with points to spare, taking the game 34-20. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Bison's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska football rankings (they are ranked ninth, while the Indians are ranked 73rd).
Wyatt Dent was his usual excellent self, picking up 258 receiving yards and three touchdowns. He really caught the secondary sleeping when he pulled down a catch that went for 95 yards.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Aurora). They blew past Milford 49-14 on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Huskies in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won four in a row.
Central City better focus on containing Ian Jensen and Canon Allen as the pair were huge in Aurora's win. Jensen rushed for 174 yards and one score while picking up 8.3 yards per carry, while Allen gained 93 total yards and a touchdown. Those 174 rushing yards gave Jensen a new career-high.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Aurora proved: they limited Milford to a paltry 3.4 yards per carry. While two picked up at least four total tackles, Jensen stood above the rest. He rushed for 174 yards and one TD while picking up 8.3 yards per carry. Aurora's run defense has been on the up-and-up: they allowed five yards per carry earlier this season, but they've only allowed 7.43 on average over their last five games.
Central City's record now sits at 8-0. As for Aurora, their record is now 5-3.
We should be in store for an exciting game as the two teams have no problem gaining yardage. Central City has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 371.5 total yards per game. However, it's not like Aurora struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 359.8 total yards. With a pair of commanding offenses duking it out, the defenses are going to have their work cut out for them.
Everything went Central City's way against Aurora in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as Central City made off with a 53-28 victory. In that game, the Bison amassed a halftime lead of 41-7, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
