Volleyball Recap: Zion-Benton's Losing Streak Snapped at Ten Games

Zion-Benton came into Saturday's matchup having lost ten straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Rockford East E-Rabs 2-1. That's more bragging rights for the Zee-Bees, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Ethan Martinez paced Zion-Benton's offense, picking up eight kills. Martinez got some help from Cason Rausch and his ten assists. Finally, Jaeden Colbert-Miller kept Zion-Benton's defense grounded, leading the team with two blocks.

Zion-Benton's victory bumped their record up to 5-21. As for Rockford East, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season.

Zion-Benton wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 2-0 defeat against Antioch on the 5th. As for Rockford East, they have also already played their next matchup, a 2-0 win against Jefferson on the 6th.
