Baseball Recap: Hardin County Extends Winning Streak to Five

Hardin County had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Crab Orchard Trojans with a sharp 9-2 win. Considering the Cougars have won five contests by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Nate Massie, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Braxton Martin was another key player, going 1-for-3 with four stolen bases and two runs.

Hardin County's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-5-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. As for Crab Orchard, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-9.

Coming up, Hardin County will face off against Agape Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Crab Orchard, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, an 11-0 loss against Galatia/Thompsonville on the 24th.
