Softball Recap: Verbena Comes Up Short

Verbena came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 12-1 to the Chilton County Tigers. The defeat continues a trend for the Red Devils in their meetings with the Tigers: they've now lost eight in a row.

Verbena's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Chilton County, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-3-1 record this season.

Verbena will take on Autauga Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Verbena has given up an average of 8.9 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. As for Chilton County, they have already played their next game, a 17-2 victory against Isabella on the 6th.
