Softball Recap: River View Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

River View had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Cle Elum-Roslyn Warriors as they made off with a 13-3 victory. That's more bragging rights for the Panthers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Kaydence Mathews made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits. Mathews was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Courtney Morris was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Bree Stacy, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

River View was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .542. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.

River View's record is now 12-2. As for Cle Elum-Roslyn, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-7.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: River View beat the Warriors by a score of 17-1 later that day.
