Tahoka is 1-7 against Ropes since March of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Bulldogs will square off against the Eagles at 4:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
As a matter of fact, Tahoka put up the most runs they have all season on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Seagraves with a sharp 22-0 victory. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by nine runs or more this season.

Bek McCleskey made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Dante Garcia was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI. He continues to improve, besting his previous run total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Cayden Gutierrez, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Ropes, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against New Home on Tuesday, sneaking past 11-10. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Eagles have posted since May 16, 2024.
Ropes' victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-5. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.0 runs over those games. As for Tahoka, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-7.
Tahoka came out on top in a nail-biter against Ropes in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, sneaking past 3-2. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
