Baseball Game Preview: Franklin Cougars vs. Coronado Thunderbirds

The Franklin Cougars will challenge the Coronado Thunderbirds at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Franklin took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They came out on top against Pebble Hills by a score of 6-2.

Coronado came out on top against Eastlake on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run first inning. The Thunderbirds walked away with an 8-5 victory over the Falcons. The Thunderbirds haven't had any issues with the Falcons recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Joey Annabi looked comfortable as he tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in ten consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kaleb Guerrero, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Ben Wilson was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Franklin's victory bumped their record up to 12-10-1. As for Coronado, their win bumped their record up to 17-8.
