Basketball Recap: Manteo Triumphs

If Cape Hatteras wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Manteo, they should've done a better job of containing Kai McGilberry. The Manteo Redskins claimed a resounding 92-56 victory over the Cape Hatteras Hurricanes thanks in part to McGilberry, who went 7 for 11 from beyond the arc on his way to 29 points. He is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for four straight games.

The team also got some help courtesy of Trevor Sawyer, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten boards. That's the most rebounds he has posted since back in December of 2023.

Manteo's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Cape Hatteras, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.

Manteo and First Flight will compete for holiday cheer at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Cape Hatteras, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Camden County at 7:30 p.m. on January 8, 2025.
