Softball Recap: Fossil Ridge SaberCats vs. Discovery Canyon Thunder        
        
		
                                                         After having lost a blowout in their  previous game against Mead, Fossil Ridge was happy to have turned things around  on Saturday. They blew past the Discovery Canyon Thunder 11-3. The  win was some much needed relief for the SaberCats as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak dating back to last season.
  Brooklynn Cardenas was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she  struck out six batters over  five innings while giving up just one earned  (and two unearned) runs off   four  hits (and only one walk). Cardenas was also big at the plate,  scoring two  runs and  stealing two bases while  getting on base  in two of her three plate appearances. Those  runs marked the first that  she's  scored this season.
 In other batting news, Fossil Ridge got a  massive  performance out of  Cassie Jensen, who  went 2-for-3 with a  home run and two  RBI. Jensen also put up two  hits, which wereher first of the season. Another player making a difference was  Savannah Cardenas, who  got on base  in all three of her plate appearances with a  home run and two  runs.
 Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Fossil Ridge  always had someone on base and  finished the game having  posted an OBP of .515. The last time their  OBP was this high was  back in October of 2023.
 Fossil Ridge's first  victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Discovery Canyon, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.
 Fossil Ridge didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next  game,  a  7-2  win vs. Erie on the 24th. As for Discovery Canyon, they will take on Elizabeth at 3:30  p.m.  on Wednesday. Discovery Canyon is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8  runs per game  this season.
