Baseball Recap: Coronado Comes Up Short

Coronado was the 9-8 winner over Rampart when they last played one another back in May of 2019, but their luck changed this time around. Coronado fell just short of Rampart by a score of 4-3 on Saturday. Cougars fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Rams since on Saturday.

Coronado saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Turner Whitney, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Coronado dropped their record down to 0-6 with the loss, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Rampart, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Coronado will take on Fountain-Fort Carson in a tournament on Friday. Coronado's pitchers better be ready for this one: Fountain-Fort Carson has averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season. As for Rampart, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Doherty at 4:00 p.m. on April 1.
