Baseball Recap: Bountiful Triumphs

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Bountiful ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 win over the Roy Royals. For the RedHawks, this counts as revenge for the 3-1 victory the Royals walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Corey Erickson tossed a big game, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Hudson Malmrose, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Mickey Willis also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Bountiful's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-8. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.33 runs across that stretch. As for Roy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-4.

Bountiful will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Royals: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
