Baseball Game Preview: Berthoud Spartans vs. Severance Silver Knights

The Berthoud Spartans will head out on the road to square off against the Severance Silver Knights at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.

Berthoud took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They skirted past Severance 9-8.

Trent Jacobs was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Elisha Mosher was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Berthoud pushed their record up to 1-1 with the victory, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Severance, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.

Berthoud skirted past Severance 9-8 in their previous matchup on Saturday. The rematch might be a little tougher for Berthoud since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
