Softball Recap: Stafford Drops Highest Score of Season Against Almeta Crawford

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Stafford ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They came out on top against the Almeta Crawford Chargers by a score of 30-26. The Spartans' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

The team relied heavily on Distiny Velasquez, who got on base in six of her seven plate appearances with five runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. She continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Genasis Mendez, who got on base in four of her seven plate appearances with three runs and two RBI.

Stafford hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Almeta Crawford struck out 11 times.

Stafford has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-8-1 record this season. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 13.8 runs. As for Almeta Crawford, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-8.

As of now, neither Stafford nor the Chargers have any future games scheduled.
