Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fairfax). Everything went their way against the North Mustangs on Wednesday as they made off with a 22-8 victory. The win was nothing new for the Stampede as they're now sitting on three straight.
Daniel Alaniz was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Fairfax is 3-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 5-7 otherwise. Alaniz was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Fairfax got a massive performance out of Alexander Tovar, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. That's the most runs Tovar has posted since back in February. Isaiah Balderas was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-5.
Fairfax was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .519. They are 6-2 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
The victory got Fairfax back to even at 8-8. As for North, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-12.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fairfax will head out to challenge Copper Canyon at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. The Stampede will need to watch out since the Aztecs have now posted at least ten runs in their last four games. As for North, they will venture away from home to take on Ironwood at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Mustangs are facing the Eagles at the right time seeing as the Eagles are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
