Baseball Recap: Clay Eagles vs. Perrysburg Yellow Jackets

It was a good run, but Clay unfortunately witnessed the end of their 15-game winning streak on Friday. They lost 12-2 to the Perrysburg Yellow Jackets. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest runs Clay has scored all season.

Drake Sekinger made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with a home run.

On Perrysburg's side, they got a great performance from Tyler Palmer as he struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit.

At the plate, Landon Winters was incredible, going 3-for-4 with a home run, three runs, and four RBI. Brady Zilles was another key contributor, scoring three runs while going 2-for-2.

Clay's defeat ended an 11-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 17-2. As for Perrysburg, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-7-1 record this season.

Clay will head out on the road to take on Troy at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Perrysburg, they will head out on the road to challenge Southview at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Perrysburg's pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so Southview's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
