Basketball Recap: West Port Has No Trouble Against Master's Academy

West Port lost to Master's Academy back in December of 2019, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The West Port Wolf Pack put the hurt on the Master's Academy Eagles with a sharp 44-20 victory. Given the Wolf Pack's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 68th, while the Eagles are ranked 298th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

West Port had a senior duo take command as Aaliyah Grant dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 boards and Calise Smith went 6 of 12 on her way to 14 points. Grant is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last 14 games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Caniyah Graham, who posted three points along with five assists, five boards, and four steals.

West Port smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in six consecutive matchups.

West Port has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.0 points per game. As for Master's Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-4.

West Port will take on Buchholz in a holiday battle at at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. West Port is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.9 points per game this season. Master's Academy and Hagerty will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
