After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Carlisle, Valley View was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They skirted past the Eaton Eagles 10-8. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Spartans considering their two-run performance the contest before.

The team relied heavily on Emily Woodward, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and two RBI. Lily Bell was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Valley View kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.4 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 10.6.

Valley View moved to 6-11 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Eaton, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.

Valley View will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Edgewood at 5:00 p.m. Eaton will be paying especially close attention to the Spartans' contest: after the Spartans face off against the Cougars, they'll take on Eaton again at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
