Baseball Game Preview: GlenOak Golden Eagles vs. Waynedale Golden Bears

GlenOak is on a five-game streak of home wins, while Waynedale is on a 12-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Golden Eagles will host the Golden Bears at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Waynedale's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Friday: GlenOak hadn't allowed a single run the last four times they've hit the field. The Golden Eagles' pitcher stepped up to hand McKinley a 10-0 shutout on Wednesday. The victory continues a trend for the Golden Eagles in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won eight in a row.

Not much got past Ben Sibert, who gave up just three hits to keep McKinley off the board. Sibert has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Mason Olbon, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Connor Zets, who went 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Waynedale made easy work of Rittman on Wednesday and carried off a 10-1 win.

GlenOak's victory bumped their record up to 16-4. As for Waynedale, their win bumped their record up to 18-0.
