Football Game Preview: Cuero Gobblers vs. Ingleside Mustangs

Cuero is a perfect 4-0 against Ingleside since October of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Gobblers will head out on the road to face off against the Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Cuero's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points in their last seven matchups.

Cuero took a loss when they played away from home on October 10th, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed last Friday. They won a game that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by Sinton 56-55. The score was all tied up 28-28 at the break, but the Gobblers were the better team in the second half.

Jaxxon Marie produced another solid performance throwing for 322 yards and seven touchdowns, while also rushing for 100 yards and one TD. Those seven passing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. Chris Mathis did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 44 receiving yards.

Meanwhile, Ingleside was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were dealt a 63-7 defeat at the hands of Sinton. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 1068th, while the Pirates are ranked 270th).

Ingleside's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Cuero, they pushed their record up to 7-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.

Everything went Cuero's way against Ingleside in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, as Cuero made off with a 40-14 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Gobblers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
